week 3 - hiro - friday post-investigation
[Man, what a long day it's been, and this was only the investigation. Newt is so not looking forward to the trial tomorrow. Yet again, they have, like, nothing. How the hell are they supposed to walk out of this with a concensus now that they can't even vote for the partners? Ugh.
Whatever. That's tomorrow's problem. For now, he's just gonna... head back to his hut and try to get some sleep. Or that was the plan, anyway. He spots Hiro hanging around outside the huts. Oh! Good. They need to touch base. They always do, really. Newt heads over.]
Hey, dude. You doing alright?

Yeah, I don't get it either... Do me a favor and watch your back, okay? I doubt it means that you're being targeted for anything, but, uh, just in case, y'know?
[Plenty of weird stuff happened to him last night, but he's pretty sure Hiro doesn't mean "did you awkwardly sleep in the same bed as both Prussia and Jack" so...] Are you talking about that burn thing? On our hands?
no subject
I'll be fine. I know what I'm doing but I definitely have to find whoever it is now and figure this out. [There's a nod though.] The burn thing. Remember what it said? "The cigarette burn mark on your arm may fade over the coming days and will be replaced by a tattoo of a young lady swathed in roses." Ruby's also still missing and we found Lelouch's eye in a drink in a field of flowers. All of it came true, I don't get it. But it did and if there's a role running around out there that can predict all of this then...that's bad news for us.
no subject
That'd be kind of pointless. The burn thing was weird, but we still don't know what it means, and a heads up about the flowers didn't mean anything until after the fact. So, why bother? Either that's the best they can do, which is worthless, or they're purposely messing with you, which... is just distracting, really.
[He's frustrated that he can't get more out of this. Some kind of clue that was actually useful would be awesome.]
But, yeah, the future-predicting thing could be bad news, especially if whoever's predicting it isn't doing anything to stop it.

So the next step is to find our item role or our seer or whoever they are and get them to work with us. I don't see why we can't all work together on this stuff.
no subject
[But, back to business.] I don't, either... Unless the item role or seer is specifically working for the killers? Maybe they get to go home if the killers win, or something. [Because Newt still wants to believe the best of everyone here.]
Got any ideas for who it might be?
no subject
That seems like a dangerous deal, too, since we don't know if their items are helping the killers or not. But I also have no clue who it could be. There's still way too many of us who could have somehow written a stupid note, maybe passed it to Yona and she really did put it in my pocket. I could go around comparing handwriting samples but if they're really good at their job they probably forged it.
But when I find them, you'll be the first to know.
no subject
Well, the items certainly aren't helping... But they don't seem to be helping either side, I guess. There's that. Like, what good did those baskets do anyone? Assuming that was an item role thing.
[But really, this is all just speculation. He doesn't know what to think, which is great and useful the night before a trial!]
Cool. I'll keep you in the loop, too. Between the two of us, we should be able to figure something out.
no subject
But I appreciate it. We'll figure it out soon...it helps having someone else around that knows about this kind of stuff so...thanks. Seriously.
no subject
[That said, at least he's got Hiro.]
You're welcome, dude. I'd go crazy without someone like you here to bounce ideas off of.
no subject
But trust me. Same for me? You don't know how many people just give me blank looks most of the time now when I start explaining stuff.
no subject
Hah, yeah, same here. Or, more likely, I get called crazy or reckless. That's what Hermann and Pentecost thought when I pitched them my plan of Drifting with the Kaiju brain, but I did it anyway, and guess what? The info I got out of that is what saved the world.
[He laughs.] Crazy and reckless aren't exactly negative traits if you want my opinion, and the blank stares just mean they're too stupid to follow your genius. It sucks being a caliber above your average idiot sometimes, sure, but hey. We can do stuff those guys can't even dream of. We're rock stars.
