week 2 - jack - thursday night
[Tonight has been weird to say the least, and it doesn't help that they've got another murder to look forward to in the morning. Someone's going to die tonight, and then three more people are probably going to die on Sunday. Newt and Jack could be among them. Newt would like to avoid that.
Speaking of Jack, the two of them are locked in for the night. This setup felt safer last week, before they knew the huts were free game. Now all the anxiety Newt has been avoiding all week has caught up with him. He doubts he's going to get any sleep tonight, which is maybe for the best.]

[There's a tenseness in the air tonight. Way worse than last week. Jack's pacing, agitated, even though there's very little room in the hut. And it's not just the whole murder thing, he's been feeling...off this evening. Like he's been awake too long and his senses are playing tricks on him.]
I dunno. I mean...we gotta defend ourselves, right? It's...it's okay if you're defending yourself. I've done it before. Like...just once, and I had a gun and the guy was an asshole trying to kill me and help some other people kill everybody, but...

[Jack looks around the hut and then brightens, going to his trunk.]
We got a big ass glass absinthe bottle! That'd do some damage, clubbed over somebody's head.

I mean...you could snap somebody's neck, strangle'em, rip out their jugular with your teeth, beat'em to death...hell, if you squeeze a dude's balls so hard they pop, then like...rip off what's left, you got a dead dude. Oh, and you can jab your fingers so far into someone's eyes it hits their brain...

Dude! That's, like, so not helping! Ughhh. [He drops his head into his hands, scrubbing at his face to try to keep from freaking out. His glasses tumble onto the bed.]

[He's about to say more, but suddenly he stops, glancing off to the side of the hut. He could have sworn...he just heard Nisha. But she's back on Helios. What the hell is wrong with him?]

[It doesn't bode well, though. He rakes a hand through his hair, shaking his head, like he can shake out the weird hallucinations.]

[At the question, though, he shrugs.] I wish. I don't get out of the Shatterdome much these days. Or my lab, even. I'm stuck in there with one other dude. The likelihood of me getting any anytime soon is pretty slim.

[And he is utterly suspicious of Jack's intentions here, but whatever. There's no point in lying.] Depends on the dude. Usually women are more my speed, but with some guys it's like, man, who wouldn't want to hit that?

[He's a lonely guy! And he's hearing just what he likes...okay, so maybe there's a faint sound of screaming behind it, but still.]
Ha! Okay, so your lab partner's no bueno, got it! But yeah, yeah, I get ya. That's pretty much where I fall on the old spectrum. Women are just...they're so awesome. They're just so, so awesome. Everything about'em. But there's some dudes that yeah, just do it for me.
[And that is good to know, Jack's storing that little info nugget away.]

[Okay, that's not giving Hermann nearly enough credit, but continuing to bag on the guy makes him feel more normal after all this traumatic stuff that's been happening to him lately, both on the island and off.]
