[Tapping his foot on the ground, as if he's kinda searching for what to say. He really is new to the honesty thing, so it takes him a while.]

I'm still not entirely convinced you're innocent either, for the record.

Think what you want. It's not like I'm going to be able to convince you otherwise if you still think I'm good for it. But I'm not a Reaper. That should be obvious, one way or the other.

I mean, I don't give a shit if you -- or Hermann, who I actually suspect is the Reaper -- are part of the system. Max said that we're thinking about this the wrong way, but, quite frankly, guy I don't know all that well, I'm sick of playing by their rules. I suspect you might be too?

[Shrugging at the second part though, he doesn't seem all that worried about it, though everything about tonight has sort of flipped the switch on Taako from secretive to . . . slightly unhinged.]

Always got a choice, my man. For starters, I suspect one of the things they expect us to do is, uh, keep everything we know sort of hush hush, right? Well, busted that one open. You know everything I do now, as of the trial.

You know, I can't say I haven't had the same thought myself, but... That's dangerous. I... I can't believe I'm still alive right now, honestly, but I'll be dead by this time next week, I'd bet money on it.

[He's not sure why he's saying this shit to Taako, of all people, but maybe that honesty thing is rubbing off.]

If Monika and Izaya don't come after me, the Reapers will.

I'm not a Reaper, if you were wondering. And I can prove it, uh, here, I've got something, there's a thing they've got out of my brain here, uh, maybe. Hm. A some . . . one? A something? [He screws up his face, like he's struggling hard to think about something, to the point one of his eyes starts twitching -- before he gives up, sliding back into serenity.] Missing memories? Can't even touch 'em. Don't tell anyone, especially Fantasy Entertainment Today, that I said this, but I'm really not that great at acting.

As for, uh, being targeted. I don't know on that one. Monika, I don't see trying to do you in - or maybe she will? - Izaya's a bit of a wildcard. Fun, though? I'm not a fan of that monkey. He stole from me. I think danger is just the name of this here game from here on out, and if you play it safe, well. You're not going to impress anyone. Like the notes said: there's more to this than survival. Might as well go out fighting, right?

My advice: sleep with a knife. If you kill in self-defense, I'd argue that you don't deserve the axe. Unless you did kill Jacopo, of course, in which case. Just being honest? I'll kill you too, homedog. For Monika's sake. I'm a big fan of hers. [:) I mean, it's a threat, but he doesn't seem particularly homicidal right now.] So for all of our sake's, I really hope you didn't. You're at the very least fuckin' hilarious.
