week 2 - akira - sunday, post-execution
[A bit later in the day, Newt decides to check in on the sushi shop for the billionth time. God, why did those assholes have to go and cause a scene and get this place shut down? It was like, the one awesome thing they've had since landing in Shibuya. Ughhh.
And, yep, still closed. Whatever. That just means there's no one to stop Newt from going inside. At least he can nap in a booth or something.
But, NOPE. He's got company. What's up, Ray Repairman...]
What are you doing in here?

[he was drooling a little bit, and his glasses are askew on his features. he quickly corrects them]
Ah. . . napping.
[the live house was too busy]
What are you doing here?

[He shoves his hands in his pockets.]
I wanted a break from the masses after, y'know, all that. [He tips his head toward the door.] I've had enough drama for one week.
no subject
Great minds?
[think alike? it's not really a phrase he believes in, but ya know. he doesn't have to in order to get the point across]
[groggily, he presses the heel of his palm against his eye, stifling a yawn as he does so]
And only a week? I've had enough drama for, say, ten lifetimes.
no subject
[He definitely sounds bitter about that, though. Sure, in a lot of ways this is a great opportunity, but... Damn.]
We're gonna be right back in it next week, anyway. May as well get used to the constant stress. [...] Especially since the game's always technically on, even when we're not trying to solve murders.

Yeah, sure, it won't be free. But there's "a reasonable price" and then there's "overcharging."
[this entire fucking game is the latter, to Akira. once he's done chasing away his bleariness, he rests his elbow on the counter, chin in his hand]
. . . guess you're right about that. But I'm less the "get used to something shitty" type, and more the "actively try to do something to change it" type.
no subject
So what are you actively trying to do?
no subject
The only thing I can do.
[he shrugs]
Shaking down Max until I get some answers.
no subject
Not sure that's gonna get you very far. Max can't say more than the Composer lets him, and if the Composer was about to make this easy for us, there'd be no point in all the secrets in the first place. What are you hoping to get out of him, anyway?
no subject
[his gaze is distant, affixed on a random point in space, extremely pensive]
Anything that gives us a peek into why they're doing this. Why the game is set up this way. Why they want us to chase down reapers. Why reapers are killing in the first place.
How they intend to judge us when all of this is over.
no subject
Max did say something about this being an unusual setup for this game. Sounds like it's more typical for the Reapers to have a serious leg up to get things over with quickly, but this is different. You heard anything about that?
no subject
[a small tilt of his head, emphasizing his thoughtfulness]
But when I asked for the reasons why the Composer would build a game as cruel as this one, he told me it was because the Composer was trying to prove something. I don't know. . . what, but. . .
