week 0 - clarke - saturday post-trial

[Newt is just sort of milling around the statue of Hachiko(?), grateful for the fresh air. That trial was something else. He's tired as hell, but way too wired to sleep. So he's out here, trying to unwind.

Maybe some definitely lighthearted conversation will ease the tension? He spots Clarke, and heads over. He likes her well enough.]

[clarke can't sleep either especially with everything that went down during the trial or even this whole week if she's being honest. she hears newt call out to her and she turns slightly towards him as she hears him approach] Ah— thank you. I'm just glad I could help in any case.

[they may have found the culprit but it doesn't make it any easier to face that two more innocent people are being erased tomorrow]

Yeah, same here. Where'd you pick up that medical knowledge?

[He's trying to ignore the whole "execution tomorrow" thing.]

I think it was from my mother. [if it wasn't for the fact that it was something people had told her back home, it wouldn't be something she would even remember given what else it still a bit fuzzy to her because of her entry fee]

I can't remember— which I'm pretty sure it's part of my entry fee.

Oh. Damn. That sucks. [...] Are memories common as entry fees? I haven't talked to too many people about them. How much did you lose?

[romancekiller]

You know— I haven't asked many people about theirs so I'm not sure how common it is. [not to mention, she feels like it might be too intrusive to ask people since it seems like these entry fees seem a bit personal] I remember most things from back home but when it comes to my family or even the people who I'm friends with, things get a bit fuzzy.

I keep drawing blanks when it comes to remembering their names or trying differentiate between people in my memories.

Hm... Interesting. So you don't remember, like, literally anything about the people back home? And instead you're just kind of... Vaguely aware of their existence?

[clarke isn't too bothered by the clarification but saying it aloud makes it that much more real everything she is missing] Yeah— it's exactly like that.

Well, that's freaky... But Max said we get our entry fees back if we win, right?

Yeah, that's what I heard him say too. [maybe she'll be fortunate enough to make it to the end or they'll be able take out the reapers before the death rate doubles but she doesn't even know at this point]

What did your entry fee end up being?

Uh... Y'know, just some memory stuff too, I guess. [He shrugs.]

Do you think the entry fees are gonna end up being more important to the overall game?

[romancekiller]

Maybe it could be common than we think then—

[she pauses for a moment considering his question] I think so— I mean, if the game took it from us there has to be a reason behind what was chosen for our entry fees in the first place.

Sure, maybe, but I'm not sure how memory loss and things like that could make a difference in the game itself. It's probably just more incentive to win, as if a second shot at life wouldn't be enough.

Yeah, that's true— but it's probably something not just to win but to get us to do what they want. [you know with resorting to murdering and taking out other players. she has killed before several times actually but that doesn't make this any easier either]
