Magic... That's a whole separate can of worms. There has to be some sort of scientific explanation for how those things are possible, though. Like, Katara? She said she can control water back home, but pressure points on the body can affect her ability to use that, uh, magic. So it's gotta be a physiological thing somehow, even if it's not something that makes sense in our worlds.
