week 1 - alistair - sunday post-execution

[Newt has been wandering around the island kind of aimlessly since the execution. What a mess, to say the least. He should probably devote his time to doing something useful, like exploring the cave more or working on that whole hunter/gatherer food situation, but man, he's not in the mood. He needs some time to work out his thoughts on the events of the last couple of days. He'll bounce back pretty quickly afterward. He always does.

He's been hanging out by the water most of the day, so now he's heading into the jungle with the hope that he'll find some cool bugs or something to distract him. Instead, he finds Alistair as he's walking along one of the jungle paths. Eh, he'll take it.]

Hey, man. [He's not as peppy as usual.] What's up?

[Alistair's in a similar mood after the lovely events of this weekend. He knows he should be doing something more proactive than sulking in a corner - he can already hear Morrigan's voice in his head sarcastically deriding what a useless lump he is - but the problem is he has no idea what to actually do. He's never been the leader type - throw himself into the fray and risk life and limb, sure, but actually coming up with some sort of plan that has a chance of succeeding? Yeah, not so much.

So instead, he's just angrily kicking a tree. Great job, Alistair. At least he has the decency to look embarrassed when Newt catches him at it.]

Er, just. Testing the sturdiness of the trunks here. Wouldn't want any of the trees to fall over and squash someone, that'd...be bad.

[Newt tries to withhold a smile. He's not judging, though, and he won't call Alistair out on the lie. He gets it.]

Yeah, that'd be a bummer. Isn't that against the rules? We're not allowed to die in stupid ways, or something? Anyway, it'll be good to have a read on the tree situation around here in case we need to, I don't know, cut them down to build stuff, or something.

It's more productive than what I've been up to. Sulking around the island isn't going to do anybody any good.
